When choosing our wax, it was important for it to be as eco-friendly as possible while being effective. Soy wax is a common plant-based choice, but it can be unreliable in terms of burning and its ability to diffuse scent throughout a home. Paraffin wax, the most popular choice, is extremely cheap, holds scent and colour well and is therefore heavily used; but it’s not at all sustainable, as a by-product of crude oil refinement, and it burns very quickly. 

After months of thinking outside the box, research and testing, I settled on a rapeseed and coconut wax blend for our candles. The recipe is simple; rapeseed wax, coconut wax and nothing else. No nasty additives or chemicals, just 100% plant based candle wax. 

This wax mix is sustainable, with rapeseed wax sourced from Europe and cultivated under strict laws. Coconut wax is sourced from either the Philippines or the Dominican Republic, where harvesting is strictly overseen by the government. It’s an extremely transparent process, with no connection to deforestation or the usage of pesticides, meaning that this wax blend is widely regarded as the most eco-friendly on the market.

It’s also highly efficient. Its ‘scent throw’ - meaning how far scent travels and how strong it is, both while the wax is hot and while it’s cold - is incredible, giving you the best possible scent experience, and the wax burns slowly, meaning that your product will last for longer.
